WELCOME TO

Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme is hinged on the Covenant University vision and mission of “Raising New Generation of Leaders” with the objective of turning out graduates that are expert thinkers and prudent managers in their respective fields. The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Program is driven by a passion to equip students with the required skills to be able to advance the practice of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and to be able to develop solutions using the skills acquired during their training. This is achieved by implementing a robust curriculum that meets challenges in Electrical and Electronics Engineering through the acquisition of relevant skills. The program is adequately staffed with experienced faculty, most of whom have made very valuable contributions in research, industry and teaching. This program provides hands-on training in areas such as electrical power systems, electronics, digital signal processing, control systems, artificial intelligence and renewable energy, preparing you for a variety of technical roles in the industry. Throughout your studies, you will have the opportunity to work on practical projects, engage with industry professionals, and gain valuable hands-on experience. This will enable you to develop the skills necessary to design, analyze, and implement electrical and electronic systems and collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Electrical Electronics Engineering is a rapidly evolving field with a wide range of applications, including power generation and distribution, telecommunications, consumer electronics, automation, renewable energy, and more. Your expertise will be highly sought after in industries that drive technological advancements and shape the future.

Admission Requirement

An applicant for admission into the Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme of Covenant University must have graduated from an accredited secondary school. In addition, the applicant must satisfy the University Matriculation Examination (UME), Senior School Certificate Examination/General Certificate Examination (SSCE/GCE) Ordinary “O” Level, National Business & Technical Examination Board (NABTEB), and National Examination Council (NECO) requirements for the programme.
Candidates applying to Covenant University are required to sit for the UME examination of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and attain the prescribed cut-off marks. In addition to the above, the University conducts aptitude and character screening exercises for all candidates seeking admission into the University.
The minimum entry requirements for admission into Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme in Covenant University are credit level passes in 5 subjects at the SSCE/GCE ‘O' Level/NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects passed must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either credit pass in Biology, Basic Electronics, Computer Studies, Applied Electricity, Further Mathematics, Information Technology, or Technical Drawing.

Graduation Requirement

Before a student is qualified to graduate, he/she must take and pass the minimum credit units specified in the Programme. This includes the passing of all compulsory General Studies courses, Entrepreneurship courses and Industrial Training courses.

To graduate from the 5-year Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) Degree Programme in Electrical and Information Engineering, students must have successfully completed a minimum of 246 Credit Units, as shown in the table below
